HANALEI – The Kaua‘i Outrigger Association will be hosting the annual Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association (HCRA) State Championship Regatta this Saturday, Aug. 3, from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Hanalei Bay.

To accommodate the event and mitigate traffic impacts to the surrounding area, the Kaua‘i Police Department will be implementing a change in traffic patterns on Saturday, from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m., or until as needed.

Traffic modifications are as follows:

  • Traffic will be one-way only on Aku Road, from the Papio Road junction heading makai toward Weke Road.
  • Weke Road will be one-way westbound, from Aku Road to Malolo Road.
  • Malolo Road will be one one-way mauka bound, from Weke Road toward Kūhiō Highway.
  • Eastbound traffic at the Weke and Aku road junction will be limited to local traffic, vendors and officials with placards, ADA parking, and shuttle buses.
  • Mahimahi Road, from Weke Road to Kūhiō Highway will be closed.

Local residents and TVR guests will be allowed through road closures but should be prepared to show identification or proof of residency or reservation.
