Every year Hanalei School ends the school year with a beautiful and colorful May Day Celebration.  This event includes a cultural ceremony honoring the Royal Hawaiian Court and various Hula Dances performed by each class.

The Royal Court consists of a Queen and a King (6th Grade), and escorts and princesses from each grade (K-6th Grade) representing all the Hawaiian Islands.  This year’s King was Joshua Zietz, the son of our Vacation Rental Manager, Kahea Zietz.  The Princess in pink representing Maui was Wailana Marvin (1st Grade), the daughter of our Broker in Charge, Ruth S. Marvin. The celebration is open to the public and is a real treat for anyone who loves Hawaiian music and culture.

The little kids look so cute and wow they are in the may day court. Do they have to learn a dance? Does the Queen and King have to dance by them self?
