Hanalei Playground Fundraiser Sunday, October 14th, 2018

For those of you not familiar with the Hanalei Initiative, they are “a group of people working to care for Hanalei’s parks, create safer streets and improve the water quality in Hanalei Bay where we fish, surf and swim.” They “recognize the importance of community engagement, strong governmental relationships and capital.” They are caring citizens working for the betterment of Hanalei and the North Shore.

The Hanalei Playground was chosen as the flagship project of The Hanalei Initiative, as it will be a gift to the keiki who were impacted so heavily by the storm and its subsequent road and beach closures. We were reminded again with the recent flooding from Hurricane Lane that when our bay floods and the water is deemed unsafe after heavy rainfall, keiki and their families are in need of other spaces for a safe gathering and play area.

The Hanalei Initiative is hosting a fundraiser dinner and auction on October 14th to raise funds for the first public playground in Hanalei in over 30 years!  This sunset event will be held at the historic Faye Estate located on Hanalei Bay from 5:30 PM until 9:00 PM.  It will be a fun evening  featuring world class musicians, a fire show, dishes prepared by the finest local chefs, crafted cocktails and fun games throughout the expansive lawn of the estate.

For tickets and more information about the Hanalei Playground Fundraiser please visit www.HanaleiInitiative.org. Each space at the event is a $250 tax deductible donation. If you would like to support the event but are unable to attend, your ticket can be given to a member of the community to attend on your behalf.

Mahalo nui loa for your continued support of our amazing community.
