Giving Back

Advocating community causes and supporting charitable organizations has been a long-time practice at Bali Hai Realty. The philanthropic track record at Bali Hai includes numerous monetary contributions, hands-on participation in projects and donated time to help out on boards and committees.  Chief among community beneficiaries are schools, housing, health care, food banks, youth programs, environmental protection and historical preservation.

In May 2010, Bali Hai Realty President, John Ferry, pledged an annual donation of $5,000 a year for five years to the Kilauea Point Natural History Association to help with restoration of the Kilauea Lighthouse, a wildlife refuge and historical site.

Raising money for the Kauai Food Bank is a consistent project at Bali Hai Realty. Over the years, awareness generated by signage on John Ferry’s 1948 Woody which is parked in front of the Bali Hai Realty office, has stimulated non-stop contributions by visitors and clients. In addition, Bali Hai has donated over $23,000 in funds and has assisted with food distribution during the holidays.

Over the years, employees of Bali Hai have contributed considerable volunteer hours pounding nails for Kauai’s Habitat for Humanity to help Kauai families build new homes.  Coldwell Banker and Bali Hai provide monetary contributions as well to this organization in support of affordable housing.

Along with a donation of $10,000, Bali Hai Realty helped build a new community hall at St. William Church in Hanalei, one of Bali Hai’s many ongoing contributions to several churches on the island.  Donations are also made to Waioli Church in Hanalei, St. Catherine Church in Kapaa and St. Sylvester Church in Kilauea.

The YMCA of Kauai is featured on Bali Hai’s Channel 10 actively promoting the organization’s causes. In addition, Bali Hai donates funding to both the Kauai YMCA and YWCA for various projects and needs. John Ferry served on the YMCA Board for ten years.

During the holidays, Bali Hai’s staff helps out at the Salvation Army serving up meals to the needy, handing out gifts to under-privileged children, and distributing food among the community.
