Bethany Hamilton won the Surf N Sea Pipeline Women’s Pro 2014

If any of you have ever surfed or attempted to surf, you realize that it takes strength, agility and balance. Now go out and surf the Banzai Pipeline, one of the most challenging surf breaks in the world, and compete for waves against the best surfers in the world. Now do that with one arm. And WIN! That’s what Bethany Hamilton did, and it’s just simply amazing.

We congratulate Bethany on this outstanding performance.  To her, it may just be a “win”, but to the rest of us, it is pure inspiration. It’s the challenge of never giving up in the face of adversity, to always push and strive for success. And Bethany does it with grace and humility.

It’s been over a decade since she lost her arm – a lot of us can still recall the sirens as they rushed by – and she has turned that life altering experience to help and inspire others throughout the world.  From her website bio, it says “Bethany is involved in numerous charitable efforts, including her own foundation, Friends of Bethany, which supports shark attack survivors, traumatic amputees, and serves to inspire others through her life story. Now as a professional surfer, wife, Christian, motivational speaker, and healthy lifestyle advocate, Bethany continues to touch and inspire lives globally.”  Her win at Pipeline was truly impressive, but what she does off the water is even more so.

Congratulations, Bethany!
